Okay, now that I’ve had a chance to check out most of the spots I missed, I give you my hotly anticipated list of the Best and Worst ads of the 2008 Super Bowl Presented by Depends.
Listed in the order in which they aired.
The Best
Audi R8 – “Godfather Parody”
Bridgestone – “Screaming Squirrel”
FedEx – “Homing Pigeons”
Pepsi Stuff – “Justin Timberlake”
Cars.com – “Tiny Head”
Bridgestone – “Richard Simmons”
Coca-Cola – “Parade Balloons”
Coca-Cola – “Carville & Frist”
Bud Light – “Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell”
The Worst
Sales Genie – “Offensive Indian Voice Over”
Under Armour – “This is Spandex!!!!”
GoDaddy.com – “Danica Becomes an Even Worse Role Model”
Sobe – “Naomi Campbell’s Hallucinogenic Dancing Lizard Wonderland”
Sales Genie – “Offensive Chinese Voice Over”
The Worst of the Worst Not Counting GoDaddy or Sales Genie
This ad (and another a pod later) ran in the government-mandated local slots. Wow. I mean, seriously. Is the guy with the goat supposed to lure the young hipsters to switch electric companies? Remember kids, just because Apple uses white cyc effectively, doesn’t mean you can.
There you have it. After perusing all the ads, I’m actually impressed with the quality this year. There will probably never be another Apple “1984” moment, so I don’t bother looking for it.
Off to feed the babies.

90% of the audience didn’t understand the carvile/frist ad. good job coca-cola
I don’t get those Texas Power guys. I’ve seen them on billboards around Ft Worth and it’s amazing that they can be so steadfastly douchey no matter what the medium.
Also, did you see the Geico caveman spot? It aired during the local slot. The cavemen were critiquing the cavemen sitcom.
I did see that Geico spot — I’d just blocked it from my mind. I’ve always loved the Caveman commercials and even gave the show a chance, but this spot lacked everything that made the campaign great while retaining everything that made the show bomb.
