On October 18, 2008, a group of extraordinary people will gather at Arrowhead Stadium – home of the Kansas City Chiefs – for the 13th Annual Buddy Walk. For those who don’t know, the Buddy Walk seeks to raise awareness of Down syndrome, as well as funds for research into the condition. Buddy Walks will take place across the country that day, and October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
Participating in the Kansas City Buddy Walk will be Team Smilin’ Spence. This team is headed by my friends Dave and Theresa Thornhill. (Dave, an art director, has been a coworker at two different agencies). Dave and Theresa’s son Spencer was born on May 19 of this year with Down syndrome. After spending 40 days in the NICU, he is now home – a happy and healthy little man.
I encourage you to support the Buddy Walk by either joining a team and walking, or by donating. You can donate to Smilin’ Spence by clicking here.
Thanks,
Fox
