In the 3 1/2 years since I started the sporadic musifying that is The AdHole, I have promoted my own work only once. This has not been out of humility. Rather, the bulk of those 42 months was spent as a self-employed freelancer. As anyone who has freelanced knows, even when a project turns out well, it rarely feels like it’s really yours. Quite possibly, you only communicated with other members of the team via email, phone or web conferencing. And once your concepting/writing part was done, well, you were done, too – long before the final piece was produced. Such was life. At least the commute was short and my kids actually know daddy’s face.

But that was then and this is now. And now I’ve got two spots in the can that I am quite proud of. So proud that I don’t mind ending sentences with prepositions. The two spots below are for Interstate Batteries. I could into the strategy and all that biznastiness, but why? You either get ’em and dig ’em or you don’t.

And yes, the 60-second spot did run. Nationally in prime time – not at 3 a.m. on America’s last UHF station.
